GREETINGS from Layden Senior Center, and welcome all you in the community who are aged 60+ years. We meet for games, visiting, fellowship and lunch Monday thru Friday, 8:00 to 2:00. Please call 972.564-7348 to make a reservation for lunch. The Layden Senior Menu will be found elsewhere in the Messenger.
Last Wednesday, we had 41 seniors for COVERED DISH. Needless to say, much good food and a lot of conversation.
BINGO, as usual on Friday - and a fun-loving crowd at GAME NIGHT on Saturday.
Then, can you believe, SUMMER is officially here and June is slipping away. This Friday, the 26th, we’ll have BINGO at the Center - plus those who have planned ahead and signed up for transportation will take a field trip to the Dallas Farmers Market!
Next Wednesday, July 1 - DEVOTIONAL
Thursday, an INDOOR PICNIC. Plans TBA
Then, Friday, July 3, The Center will be closed . Have a safe 4th Holiday!
On a positive note about aging: One of my daughters sent me a list of 45 lessons that Regina Brett of Cleveland, Ohio , says she has learned in her first 90 years; and which she indicates are to celebrate growing older: l. You don’t have to win every argument; 2. What other people think of you is none of your business; 3. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does. 4. Make peace with your past, so it won’t screw up the present. 5. Don’t audit life; show up and make the most of it now. 6. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up. (Ed Note: More later; but for now, we’ll use one of her lessons as our TFT)
TFT: “It’s never too late to have a happy childhood - but the second one is up to you, and no one else!”
