Fran Owens, Executive Director of the Forney Economic Development Corporation announced his resignation from the position effective February 12, 2010.  Owens was initially hired for the position in July 2005.  During his tenure the EDC provided leadership in the development, redevelopment and recruitment of various business interests.  

Owens states, “I would like to thank the many members of the community that have reached out to the EDC and made contributions of time and energy towards our future.  Forney has and will continue to benefit from this strong leadership and vision.”

Owens, a Certified Economic Developer, will assume the position of Economic Development Director for the City of San Angelo Texas.

The Forney Economic Development Corporation was incorporated September 15, 1994.  The Corporation is a non-profit industrial development corporation formed under the Texas Development Corporation Act of 1979 and funded by a quarter cent sales tax.  Board members include President Bill Cates, Vice President Tyler Moore, Treasurer Meredith Briggs, Secretary Jay Calvin and members Mark Ellis, Matt Ferguson and Justin Darland.
