ABOUT THE AUTHOR

A resolution passed during a special meeting of the Forney City Council Tuesday morning supports the acquisition of a parcel of land in Kaufman that will allow the  Kaufman County Single Appraisal District to build a new facility.

Mayor Darren Rozell called the special City Council meeting to order at 7:33 a. m. in the conference room on the ground floor of City Hall with all Council members present except Robbie Powers and James Hatley.

The resolution the City of Forney has been asked to adopt approves the SAD’s budget and projected expenditures for the land acquisition and building project, a move that is being asked of every taxing entity in the county. Passage will not commit any City of Forney funds, Rozell explained.

Rozell explained to the Council at the beginning of the meeting that the appraisal district has outgrown its present facility in Kaufman and faces some issues that would hinder expansion of the present building. Construction of a new facility is projected to cost about $1,150,000.00.
