Abilene—If you ask any high school athlete, they will tell you that their ultimate dream is to win a State Championship.
But let it be known that just making the State Championships in any sport is an impressive dream in its own right. Sophomore Rishaad Wimberly had this dream, and he saw it become a sweet reality at the Boys Power Lifting State Championships.
On Saturday, March 28th, Wimberly became the 1st ever Forney Jackrabbit to compete at the Boys Power Lifting State Championship.
Overall, Wimberly, who competed in the Super Heavy Weight Division, lifted a grand total of 1,485 lbs. (550 Squat, 385 Bench Press 550 Dead Lift). Wimberly finished 11th in the competition. It should be noted that there were 13 competitors in the Super Heavy Weight Division.
For the record, this is Wimberly‘s first year to compete competitively in Power Lifting.
Wimberly is coached by Larry Hartwick.
