Dallas (Norbuck Park-- September 19, 2009—Led by the top ten performances of seniors Josh Taylor and Tommy McIntire, the Forney varsity men’s cross country team finished 3rd overall at the Lake Highlands Invitational
For the record, Taylor and McIntire crossed the finish line in 5th and 8th place respectively.
Other notable efforts for the Rabbits at the Meet were turned in by Nick Arnold (12th), Zane Moody (34th), and Jamell Lilly (40th).
In the team competition, the only schools to beat Forney on this day were Lovejoy High School out of Lucas, Texas and Mesquite Poteet.
As of September 17, Forney (8th in 4A) Mesquite Poteet (9th in 4A), and Lovejoy (#1 in 3A) are ranked in their respective state polls by the Cross Country Coaches Association of Texas.
It also should be noted that Forney, Mesquite Poteet and Lovejoy all qualified for the State Meet as a team in 2008.
In the JV Division, the Forney team finished 8th overall.
Individually, the JV Rabbits were led by Cory Harris who finished 8th in the race.
Forney Lady Rabbits come in 3rd at SFA Meet
Nacogdoches (Saturday September 19)—So far in 2009, the young Forney women’s varsity cross country team has performed very well against some tough competition.
On Saturday, the Forney women came in 3rd overall at the Brooks Lumberjack Invitational Meet. The Meet was hosted by Stephen F. Austin University
The Lady Rabbits have now finished in the top 3 of every Meet that they have run in this season. Congratulations ladies!!! Keep up the good work.
The only schools that beat Forney on this day were 4A Magnolia West High School and 5A Lufkin High School. Magnolia West and Lufkin have very good teams. In fact, Magnolia West almost scored a perfect score in the process of winning the Meet. A perfect score at a high school cross country Meet is 15. Magnolia West scored 18.
Coming into the meet, Forney and Magnolia West were ranked 8th and 9th respectively in the Cross Country Coaches Association of Texas 4A State Poll. In 2008, Forney finished 6th and Magnolia West came in 7th at the State Meet.
Individually, junior Kara Hyde was the Lady Rabbits top finisher at the Meet as she crossed the finish line in 9th place.
Other Rabbit women who ran well at the meet were Samantha Amendson (22nd), Brianna Davis (23rd), Melissa Dobbs (25th), Kaylyn Hall (42nd), Vanessa Bravo (43rd), and Jasmin Chavez (48th).
In the JV Division, Forney finished 1st overall as a team. The Lady Rabbits had 5 runners place in the Top 10. Those runners were Allie Dickson (2nd), Jade Richardson (3rd), Blake Lemmon (5th), Jasmine Castro (7th), and Laura Brown (10th).
North Forney JV girls finish 2nd overall at Lake Highlands Invitational
Romero comes in 4th in 3-A varsity race; Justin Emmons finishes 6th in JV boys’ race
Dallas (Norbuck Park Saturday September 19)—‚The North Forney Girls Cross Country Team produced some outstanding individual and team results at the Lake Highlands Invitational.
Coach Staats entered his North Forney team into the 3A and Under JV Division at the Lake Highlands Invitational. The team of Chandler Taylor, Sarah Bone, Brittney Nelson, Serena Herzog, Courtney Wallis, and Katelyn Tamex made their coach look like a genius for this decision as they finished 2nd overall as a team.
The only team to beat North Forney at the Meet was Frisco High School.
Martha Romero, North Forney’s best runner, ran individually in the 3A and Under Varsity race. She finished 4th overall.
Justin Emmons was the only North Forney boys runner to compete at the Meet. He finished 6th overall.
Next meet for Forney/North Forney High School cross country teams: Saturday, September 26 at Wyle.
