Forney—In sports, it is said that when a team is in the middle of a playoff chase its only objective is to win.
If that is case, then North Forney should eventually make the playoffs because all they seem to be doing these days is winning.
North Forney beat Alvarado 52-32 to improve to 16-11 overall on the season and to 6-2 in District 12-3A play. Alvarado falls to 3-19 and 1-6.
Currently, North Forney is firmly in 3rd place in the District 12-3A Standings.
With the win over Alvarado, North Forney is guaranteed to have a winning season in their first year as a varsity program.
North Forney came out looking for the knockout early and they delivered the decisive punch in the first quarter. North Forney, behind their 2-2-1 press, outscored Alvarado 17-4 in the opening quarter. After the first quarter, it was easy for me to see that North Forney was in total command of the game.
In the fourth quarter, North Forney would build the lead up to a game high 29 points. (48-19 and 50-21) In the final minutes, North Forney would empty their bench in order to give the back ups a chance to showcase their skills and to give the starters a much deserved rest.
North Forney’s LaQuencia Dorsey (18 points) and Brionna Polk (16 points) combined to score 34 points in the game.
