FORNEY—Darien Jackson, a sophomore member of the Forney High School Lady Jackrabbit girl’s basketball team was recently named the District 15-4A Offensive Player of the Year for the district.
In addition, several other members of the 2009 Forney High School Lady Jackrabbit basketball team were also named to the District 15-4A Girls’ Basketball All-District Team.
Senior Ashlea Gilbert was named to the 1st Team District 15-4A All-District team and senior Lezlie Jeffrey was named to the 2nd Team All-District Team.
Several members of this year’s team were also named to the Honorable Mention Team including seniors Ajanae Howard and LaBresha Hearn; junior Alex Fenceroy and sophomores Jamie Wilson and Naolecia Harvey.
The Forney High School Lady Jackrabbit girls’ basketball team completed the 2008-2009 season with the best finish the school has experienced since moving into 4A classification.
The Lady Jackrabbit basketball team finished the year with an overall record of 16-14 and a District 15-A record of 7-5, well enough for a second place finish.
The team won the Bi-District Championship over Ennis and the Area Round Championship over Jacksonville. The team fell in the Regional Quarterfinals to the eventual state champions, Waco Midway.
