Rocking the TAKS

Students in third through sixth grades are taking the TAKS this week. And although the test calls for seriousness and focus, students at Smith Elementary who were to take the test were allowed to step out of the dress code for the day Friday to “Rock the TAKS.”
Appropriately, Smith third, fourth, fifth and sixth graders—as well as school principal Amy Childress and Assistant Principal Kcee Blevins—dressed up as their favorite rock star.
Campus officials described “Rock the TAKS Day” as a fun day to let students dissipate pre-test stress and to help them get excited about doing well on the test.
TAKS testing began throughout Forney ISD April 27 and will run most of the week.
