Crosby Elementary sixth graders were recently captivated by a visit from 93-year-old World War II veteran, Rudy Baum.

Mr. Baum, who is originally from Germany, immigrated to the United States prior to the start of World War II.  He served in the U.S. army as a propaganda and psychological warfare officer during the war.

Mr. Baum shared many of his experiences from WWII and the Holocaust, including how he had lost many of his Jewish family members. He encouraged students to be tolerant, forgiving and respectful of others.

Mr. Baum currently serves as a Messer for the Dallas Holocaust Museum and was recently honored at the museum’s annual Hope for Humanity Dinner. He frequently shares his life experiences with groups at the museum and area schools.

Crosby students felt honored to have had the opportunity to meet Mr. Baum and consider him a true hero!
