Crosby third graders took a step back in time during their recent investigation into the history of Forney. Students were challenged to obtain information regarding the numerous historic sites located throughout the city and then produce a recreation of their favorite one.
Research of the historic locations was conducted through the use of technology along with school and community libraries. Some students even visited the actual site of their chosen landmark to take photos.
The young architects’ projects did not disappoint their teachers! A wide variety of historic locations was represented including models of the Brooks House, Forney’s original water tower, Hillcrest Cemetery, and the T.P. Train Depot. Third grade teacher Laura Chancellor stated, “I am very impressed with the resourcefulness shown by all of the students and am proud of their hard work!”
