Mr. Wolf gets his day in court in Claybon Elementary’s ‘Big, Bad Musical’

Mr. Wolf, the villain in many a children’s fairy tale, finally got his day in court in “The Big, Bad Musical - A Howling Courtroom Comedy” put on by fourth, fifth and sixth graders at Claybon Elementary School Thursday evening, May 29.

The musical, from the book by Alec Strum with music and lyrics by Bill Francceur, was directed by Heather Crow and Jenny Mullin, with musical direction by Charlsie Grifths. The musical comedy was presented in the school cafetorium  after a spaghetti dinner in the adjoining  gym.

In the story, Mr. Wolf is put on trial by the Fairy Godmother as key characters in several famous fairy tales testify for or against the prosecution. At the end of the play, the audience, acting as the jury, got to declare Mr. Wolf either guilty or innocent on all charges.

When all of the testimony had been heard, and after the attorneys for the prosecution and the defense had completed their examinations of the accused and the witnesses, the audience took less than five minutes to return its verdict:

Mr. Wolf was found innocent!

And everyone lived happily ever after!
