The Kaufman County Commissioners held a regular meeting of the Commissioners Court on Monday, January 11 with all Commissioners and County Judge Wayne Gent present. The meeting began at approximately 10:00 a. m.
Commissioner Jerry Rowden (Precinct 1) gave the invocation. The Court led the audience in the pledges to the U. S. and Texas flags.
The first item of business was to approve the minutes of January 4, 2010. Commissioner Jim Deller (Precinct 4) moved for approval of the minutes as presented, with Commissioner J. C. Jackson (Precinct 3) seconding. All Commissioners voted in favor.
There was no routine correspondence.
By unanimous vote where voting was indicated, the Commissioners disposed of the following agenda items:
• Heard a lengthy report from Marilyn May, Executive Director of the Environmental Co-op, concerning the following: Illegal Dumping Education and Awareness Grant; maintenance for County Box; maintenance of an F-150 truck used by the Environmental Co-Op for the recycling program; linking the environmental co-op web site to the Kaufman County web site; and the 2009 annual recycling statistics.’
Ms. May reported that the county had been awarded an Illegal Dumping Education and Awareness Grant totalling $89,000.00 in funds from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) through the North Central Texas Council of Governments.
Ms. May also gave update reports on all of the other items to be covered in her report.
