Forney Finished 9-2 in 2008

On Friday, November 14, the varsity football team lost to state ranked  Waco Midway (as of November 11, they were ranked 7th in the State) 35-12 in a Class 4A Division 1 Bi District Play off game.

Notice to all 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade boys and girls that signups for Little Dribblers Basketball will start Saturday, November 1 at 10 a m. until 1 p. m. in the Cafeteria of the Forney High School. Signups will end November 22 with tryouts scheduled for December 6.

(AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Susan Combs says the state collected $1.73 billion in sales tax revenue in October, up 5.2 percent compared to October 2007.

Last Sunday, Forney’s downtown area was ablaze with gleam and color as vintage car and truck enthusiasts descended on the town for the First Annual Turkey Trax Autorama, sponsored by the Forney Economic Development Corporation and hosted by Unique Kars for Kidz.

Former Forney cross country star Dennis Yeats, now a sophomore at Stephen F. Austin University, took All-SLC honors November 3 as both SFA cross country teams posted second-place finishes in the Southland Conference Championships at Piney Woods Country Club, the Messenger learned last week.

DALLAS—The Internal Revenue Service is looking for Texas taxpayers who are missing more than 30,700 economic stimulus checks totaling more than $19 million and more than 9,000 regular refund checks totaling more than $8 million that were returned by the U.S. Postal Service due to mailing address errors.

The City Council took an additional step towards establishment of a Transportation Reinvestment zone (TRZ) when it met Monday evening.

The Council’s regular meeting date was changed to November 3 rather than November 4 because Tuesday, their stated meeting day, was election day. The Council meeting began at 7 p. m. in the Council chamber at City Hall.

D uring their Monday night meeting, Forney school trustees learned from Jim Hawkins of Gallagher Construction that now there is only one project underway in Forney—North Forney High School.
